How Our Minds Work

Overview

Our mind is very powerful! Are we in control of our minds or are our minds in control of us? As Marcus Aurelias put it ‘The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts’. Or as Shakespeare wrote, ‘there exists nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so’. This workshop takes a closer look in a fun and interactive way at how both the conscious and unconscious mind work and how they contribute to the person we know and believe ourselves to be. If we can change the way we think then we can change the results we get!

Beliefs and Self Talk – Stop Doubting Your Greatness!

Overview

Beliefs are not true! Although we act as if they are and we perceive our world through the belief. Beliefs often narrow our focus and our vision and often limit our options and our experience. What we can do depends as much on our beliefs as it does on our ability. This workshop focuses on helping young people to begin to develop an understanding as to how our thoughts and beliefs are formed by our self-talk (our inner conversation with ourselves), and how often we develop limiting beliefs that without purposefully changing, inhibit us throughout life from pursuing new goals, opportunities and adventures. What do you believe about yourself, your abilities and your life? Are you sure it’s true?

Bounce Don’t Break! -The Brilliance of Resilience

Overview

Resilience is the ability to recover and bounce back from adversity and hardships, feeling stronger and more capable to cope than ever before. This workshop has been designed to help young people learn about and understand the importance of resilience: what it is, why we need it, and how to develop it, so that they have the skills and courage to overcome personal setbacks, make the most of subsequent learning opportunities and to keep moving forward to realising their dreams and aspirations. Helping young people to build resilience, resourcefulness and hope!

The Power of Cause and Effect

Overview

In a nutshell, every action (or inaction) we choose to take (or not), has consequences and results in our lives! This is the law of Cause and Effect. Understanding this powerful concept can help transform and empower young people to take greater personal responsibility for themselves and how they choose to respond to their personal circumstances and wider life events. To be at cause is the most empowering state to be in. The opposite is of course true where accountability is placed outside of ourselves and it’s easy to fall into the excuse trap as our autopilot default reaction. Excuse = Effect = No Control. You either get results or you give reasons!

Confident Me! From Self Doubt to Self Confidence

Overview

We all lack confidence at some point in our lives and when we do we open space for self doubt to flood in. Sometimes this can be triggered by an incident or via feedback that is negative or unhelpful. Once a limiting belief is triggered and activated, our outlook changes. We see everything through a new filter and at an unconscious level we look for validation that we aren’t smart enough or capable enough and of course we always find something that confirms this belief – also known as a self fulfilling prophecy! The good news is we can rewire our brains to counteract unhelpful thoughts about ourselves that hold us back from reaching our potential. This workshop provides both insight and helpful practical techniques to move from a position of self doubt to self confidence.

Mindset for Success

Overview

This workshop introduces young people to the notion of growth and fixed mindset and explores the characteristics of each. It will help young people to think about the way they think, encouraging them to be more growth mindset orientated with regard to their own personal development. A growth mindset is believing that you can become better and improve with time and practice. A fixed mindset is thinking that there are aspects of your personality and skill set that cannot be improved past your current state. It advocates that learning is more important than proving you’re smart and that attitude and effort determine ability!

Motivation - The Art of Doing

Overview

The essence of motivation is energized and persistent goal-directed behavior. When we are motivated, we move and take action. When we are motivated in a constructive way we feel excited and enthusiastic about doing something we really want to do, or achieving something we really want to achieve. This workshop will help young people to better understand what leads us to taking action or often what stops us. It will include helpful techniques and exercises to keep young people focussed on moving towards their chosen goals.

Goal Setting - The Practical Habit that Makes Dreams Come True!

Overview

Setting goals is a vital practice that can benefit anyone with a dream or a vision for their future. Young people who are just starting out on the grand journey of life are at a particularly opportune time to start building their goal setting skills—not only will these skills serve them throughout their lives, but building them now will help them mold their future into one that they desire. Goal setting is a process that helps us direct our future the way we want it to be. This workshop will help students to understand the power and benefits of goal setting and to be introduced to the concept that we move towards and become like that which we think about. It will highlight that our present thoughts determine our future, and that without clear personal goals there is a risk of just drifting through life and accepting whatever comes our way.

Get Unstuck

Overview

People are creatures of habit which helps bring order and stability to our lives. However, this can also lead to boredom and feeling stuck. It creeps up on us and can be hard to break free from, particularly when we are following the same routine day after day. This interactive workshop helps young people to better understand how sometimes we can get in our own way and stop ourselves from experiencing new opportunities or challenges. Being stuck can make us feel disempowered, drain us of energy, rob us of happiness and variety in our lives and leave us feeling we are just existing rather than living. This workshop provides useful tips and techniques to help young people move forward with a renewed sense of vigour and positivity. Tomorrow can be different from today – if we want it to be!

The Magic of Attitude!

Overview

Our personal attitude, whether positive or negative, has the power to impact every aspect of our lives. Essentially, our attitude towards life, determines life’s attitude towards us. Each of us shapes his or her own life for better or worse. If we take the attitude that we can’t do something then generally we won’t do it. If we have an attitude of failure, then generally we accept defeat before we even start. Alternatively, if we have a positive expectancy of achieving our goals then there is a very strong likelihood that that is exactly what we will do. This workshop helps young people to reflect on the importance of personal attitudes and how they are instrumental in shaping our future and the results we get in life. Helping young people to develop a winning attitude!

Be Authentic - Live Your Best Life

Overview

The starting point for this workshop is that authenticity is a process not an end product in and of itself. It is something that continually evolves throughout our entire lives, so young people won’t magically develop what it is to be authentic within a couple of hours. No teacher, book or workshop can make somebody authentic in a quick and easy way, but what this workshop will do is provide food for thought to participants, explore the power and benefits of authenticity, what it is, and what can stop us from being real to ourselves and others. Fundamentally it’s about helping young people to develop greater awareness of authenticity and getting to know themselves better.
